“A large number of scientific studies have found that music education improves our cognitive and brain functions, helps the memory systems to work, helps to learn language, helps to moderate emotional states, and to solve complex problems. Music education has been actually found by scientists to be most beneficial if it is undertaken before the age of seven.”
– Anita Collins, “How learning music influences our brain development.” TEDx Talks, October 27, 2014
The core foundation of Encore Academy of the Arts’ philosophy and mission is to "Inspire young minds through the Arts." We strive to teach music, dance, and visual arts to children of all ages in order to provide them with powerful tools that helps develop their communication, motor and social skills as well as stimulating their imagination and creativity towards a better and meaningful life.
Among all of the other art forms, music stands in a special place. Music combines math, with sound and physical abilities. Playing an instrument requires great attention to details, concentration, practice habits, strong will, patience and discipline. Through music, children can develop a wide spectrum of skills that can apply to everyday activities and challenges.
The process of learning how to play an instrument helps children improve their overall cognitive development. Music enhances the child’s attention and focus. When playing an instrument such as piano, violin, drums or even guitar children can develop and improve their physical coordination and motor skills. Taking voice lessons helps with language learning and overcoming speech and fluency disorders.
Education in music and other art forms ignites the child’s imagination and creativity, helping them progress little by little according to their needs and personal skills and talents.
