Entrepreneurs and Depression

As many of you may have heard throughout the month, October 10 was World Mental Health Day. We have seen suicides increase (as mentioned in the blog written by our very own Dr. Michelle Gonzalez earlier this month you can find here) and have been especially touched by entrepreneurial celebrities we have lost like Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain.

So, I didn’t want to close the month out without touching on the subject of entrepreneurs and depression. Although I’m an entrepreneur, I’m not an expert on depression, mental health or suicide but I do feel that opening up the door – opens it up for questions and discussion. The alternative – suffering in silence until we feel there’s no solution – thus acting in desperation – can’t be the solution we continue running to.

Instead of writing this blog on my own, I thought I would share a podcast that Amy Porterfield and Jasmine Starr partnered on. For those of you that don’t know them – they’re two very successful entrepreneurs in the online space. I have followed them for years and I love their work. Amy Porterfield is an expert on creating online programs and Jasmine Starr is an expert on social media.

The podcast is a very raw and transparent in-depth look at their past, their present, and their struggles with depression while creating their multi million dollar online presence. Honestly, for me it just said it all much better than anything I could ever write. Here it is: https://www.amyporterfield.com/2018/09/230/
