Finding Gratefulness by Breaking Free of the Work-Life Balance Trap

To stand in gratefulness it’s important to first be present.

But what happens if life gets in the way of us being present?
What happens if our thoughts and beliefs get in the way of us being present?

One belief many of my clients come to see me about is “finding work-life balance.”  This is a belief that sounds beautiful.  It sounds like the perfect way to improve the quality of our lives.

But instead, the pursuit of work-life balance gets in the way of being present and living our lives fully.  It’s an obstacle that doesn’t allow us to move forward.

When we try to balance our work with everything in our life – life always loses out.

By believing work-life balance is necessary to live our best life, we miss out on LIVING our best life.

Instead, what if we included work under life?  What if we tried to find balance in all areas of our life – knowing life is 50/50?

Knowing that sometimes we have a perfectly balanced day at work and at home not so much.  On other days, home is perfectly balanced and work not so much.  And, sometimes, the stars align, and we have a perfectly balanced day at home AND work.

Instead of chasing the work-life balance myth, what if expecting our life not to be perfectly balanced allowed us the freedom to be more present.

Allowed us to live fully in gratefulness.
