Self-compassion. I know, I know, It sounds hokey. Just give me two minutes. Hear me out. I’m not saying be self-indulgent. I’m not encouraging self-pity. And just in case you think it’s selfish… I promise you it’s not that either. The truth is, it takes a good amount of strength. It takes more courage than many recognize.

We’re often quick to jump to self-criticism and may even think it’s the answer. You might believe it’s what you need to do to in order to “get things done” or “be on your A game.”

Well I’m here to tell you otherwise. And here’s the good news: you actually get more done, show more resiliency and actually feel better when you’re kinder to yourself! So why not? Give it a shot.

Read this morning prayer when you need some inspiration to start your day on a self-compassionate note.

Good morning sunshine,
Today is a new day full of endless possibilities
May you speak kindly to yourself on this day
May you treat your mind, body and soul with respect
May you be mindful of any suffering
May you recognize the goodness within yourself
May you take responsibility for your behaviors
May you remember that perfection is nothing but an illusion
May you sit with the uncertainties of life
May you continue to strive for growth and well-being
May you embrace curiosity
May you tap into your inner strength and courage
May you be your own best ally.   ( tweet this quote!)
